What to Expect
Pilates for Seniors at SALTVAULT of Del Mar offers a supportive, low-impact class designed around the needs of older adults. Each session focuses on balance, mobility, and core strength, with movement paced to let guests work at a level that feels right for them.
We recommend guests consult their physician before beginning any new exercise program, particularly if managing a chronic condition or recovering from injury. Instructors work with each guest to keep movement safe, controlled, and appropriate.
Infrared
SALTVAULT classes take place in a climate-controlled studio, and instructors work closely with senior guests to manage comfort throughout each session. Because heat sensitivity varies from person to person, especially for guests managing certain conditions or medications, we encourage guests to discuss the studio environment with a physician beforehand.
During class, instructors check in regularly and encourage guests to pace themselves, take breaks as needed, and report any discomfort immediately. Comfort and safety come first at every stage of the session.
Hot Pilates
Pilates for Seniors draws on the same mat-based principles used throughout SALTVAULT, adapted for a slower pace and gentler range of motion. Sessions emphasize balance, joint mobility, and functional core strength supporting everyday movement.
Instructors offer modifications throughout class and encourage guests to move at their own pace. Rather than pushing intensity, this class focuses on control, stability, and steady progress over time.
Musically-driven
Music remains part of every SALTVAULT class, though the pacing in this session is calmer and more measured. Familiar, steady rhythms help guests stay engaged without feeling rushed through movements.
Rather than driving intensity, music in this class supports focus and helps guests connect breath with movement at a comfortable, sustainable pace.
ABOUT OUR PILATES FOR SENIORS CLASS
Serving the Greater San Diego County Including Del Mar, Poway, Fairbanks Ranch, Ramona & Beyond
Pilates for Seniors at SALTVAULT of Del Mar is designed for older adults who want a supportive environment to build strength, improve balance, and maintain mobility. Guests are welcome at a range of experience and fitness levels.
Props such as light resistance bands, Pilates balls, and supportive cushions may be used to assist with comfort and alignment. Instructors provide individualized cues throughout class to help each guest move confidently within their own comfort level.
The Process
Each class begins with a brief check-in, giving guests a chance to share how they are feeling and flag any concerns. From there, instructors guide a gentle warm-up followed by mat work focused on balance, core support, and gradual mobility.
Class closes with slow, supported stretching and a few minutes of rest. This unhurried pace gives guests time to settle and transition comfortably out of the session.
Improve Relaxation & Circulation
Many senior guests find Pilates helps support circulation and ease everyday stiffness. Gentle movement and steady breathing may also help guests feel more grounded and connected to their body.
Our instructors emphasize breathwork, which many guests find supportive for both physical comfort and overall relaxation.
