What to Expect
SPICE at SALTVAULT of San Diego is an invigorating mat-based Pilates class held in a heated studio, typically 95–105°. This class is designed to deliver a stronger, more intense experience than foundational Hot Pilates, with a focus on deep core engagement and full-body strength. The heat encourages a detoxifying sweat while supporting flexibility, circulation, and sustained muscle activation throughout class.
Set to energizing, musically driven playlists, SPICE moves at a steady, demanding pace. Expect longer holds, controlled transitions, and challenging sequences that target the abs, glutes, legs, and stabilizing muscles from start to finish.
Infrared
SPICE uses infrared heat to warm the body gently from the inside out. This type of heat supports circulation, helps muscles loosen more efficiently, and allows participants to maintain intensity without unnecessary strain. The consistent warmth keeps muscles engaged and prepared, helping you move deeper into each exercise while maintaining control and stability.
Hot Pilates
SPICE is an intermediate-to-advanced heated mat Pilates class designed for guests looking to push their strength and endurance. The elevated temperature intensifies traditional Pilates movements, increasing time under tension and muscle activation while keeping the exercises low-impact and joint-friendly. This class emphasizes core burn, muscular control, and sustained effort rather than speed or jumping.
Musically-driven
Music plays a central role in the SPICE experience at SALTVAULT. Each class is musically driven, with movements guided by the playlist’s rhythm and tempo. The music’s pacing helps maintain focus and intensity, creating a structured flow that supports challenging work without distraction.
ABOUT OUR SPICE CLASS
Serving the Greater San Diego County Including Little Italy, San Diego, National City, Bonita & Beyond
SPICE at SALTVAULT of San Diego is designed for guests who want to elevate their Pilates practice through heat, resistance, and intentional movement. Classes feature intermediate to advanced mat work and regularly incorporate props such as light weights, resistance bands, exercise balls, and the magic circle to increase difficulty and strengthen stabilizing muscles.
While the class is challenging, instructors offer guidance and options throughout, allowing participants to adjust intensity while maintaining proper form and control.
The Process
Each SPICE class begins with a purposeful warm-up to prepare the body for movement in the heated environment. From there, participants move through structured Pilates sequences that focus heavily on the core, glutes, legs, arms, and postural muscles. Instructors provide clear cues and direction, emphasizing alignment, breath awareness, and controlled transitions. Classes conclude with focused movements and stretching to support balance and recovery.
Improve Relaxation & Circulation
The combination of infrared heat, breath-focused movement, and controlled Pilates exercises helps improve circulation while supporting relaxation after intense work. Many participants experience reduced muscle stiffness, improved flexibility, and greater physical balance following class. Over time, SPICE can support a more assertive posture, improved mobility, and greater body awareness.
