What to Expect

SALTVAULT of Encinitas does not run a dedicated postnatal Pilates program, and instructors are not certified postpartum specialists. Once a doctor or midwife has cleared a guest to resume exercise, typically around six weeks after delivery and often later following a cesarean birth, she is welcome to return to any of our regular classes at her own pace.

Many guests choose ZEST, our unheated mat class, as a gentle starting point while rebuilding core and pelvic floor strength. Others progress toward SPICE or SAVOR once their provider confirms they are ready for higher-intensity, heated work.

ABOUT OUR POSTNATAL PILATES Training

Serving the Greater San Diego County Including Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Cardiff & Beyond

SALTVAULT of Encinitas wants every postpartum guest to return to movement on their own timeline. We do not offer a certified postnatal program, so guests are asked to get clearance from their doctor or midwife first and share any restrictions before class.

From there, ZEST offers a lower-intensity, unheated starting point, while SPICE and SAVOR are available once a guest and her provider agree she is ready for more. Instructors can offer general modifications, but they are not a substitute for a pelvic health specialist.

The Process

Postpartum guests should arrive early to their first class back, sharing any provider guidance with the instructor beforehand. Class then follows the normal structure for the chosen format, beginning with a warm-up and progressing through mat-based sequences.

Instructors can point out lower-pressure alternatives to core exercises on request. Still, guests recovering from diastasis recti or a cesarean birth should come with specific direction from their own provider rather than relying on general cues alone.

Improve Relaxation & Circulation

Many new mothers find gentle, controlled movement supports circulation and eases physical tension carried from pregnancy, delivery, and the demands of caring for a newborn.

Any benefits experienced will vary by individual and recovery stage, and class should be treated as a supplement to, not a substitute for, guidance from a physician or pelvic health specialist during the postpartum period.

"Salt Vault’s Savour class with Fallon is genuinely amazing. She is such a great instructor and creates an environment where you feel supported, motivated, and energized. Every time I leave her class I feel ready to take on anything."
